WHY
MODIFY THE SUSPENSION
ON YOUR TOYOTA?
The
basic theory in suspension design is to isolate the
cargo and passenger areas of the vehicle from the
surface when traveling. Most people re-work their
suspension systems to meet their specialized needs
and requirements. The most common reasons for suspension
upgrades are increased travel, higher performance,
greater load carrying capacity, better off-road ride
and handling, and finally, increased fender clearance
for oversize tires. Northwest Off-Road Specialties
has been involved in the design of Toyota 4 wheel
drive suspension systems since 1978. Our springs
have been designed and engineered to meet our rigid
standards of performance and quality which allow
us to offer a limited lifetime warranty.
NWOR
offers, for '79-'85
Toyotas, five different
spring combinations
for the front, all
at different ride heights
and load carrying capacities.
We offer 21 rear spring
sets for specific applications
on '79-'04 Toyotas.

WHY
SHOULD YOU PURCHASE
NWOR
SPRINGS?
HERE ARE 12 GOOD REASONS!
1 |
Draw-tapered leaves
reduce innerleaf friction. |

Greaseable
Bushings
 |
2 |
Anti-friction
pads - greaseable, allow a smooth, non-squeaking
ride and less tip friction where
the load is greatest! |
3 |
5160
H spring material (the
best available) is used exclusively. It
greatly increases elasticity and memory
while adding longer life. |
4 |
Precision heat
treatment of each leaf. |
5 |
All
leaves individually shotpeened on
the tension side to reduce stress and increase
spring life dramatically. |
6 |
Graphite
coated and painted for rust protection
and further reduction in friction. |
7 |
All
springs are load tested and
fully scragged. |
8 |
All
rear spring assemblies are complete
replacements and do not require you to use
your old factory load carrying leaf. |
9 |
Right and left-hand
designed springs, like the factory, ensure proper
leveling of vehicle. |
10 |
Splined
urethane bushings for maximum
grease retention. |
11 |
Improved
off-road ride and load carrying ability. |
12 |
Superior
quality and manufacturing with a limited
lifetime warranty! |
FREQUENTLY
ASKED SUSPENSION QUESTIONS
BY OUR CUSTOMERS
|
1)
FRONT LIFT SPRINGS: Standard
or Heavy duty?
NWOR sells the largest selection of Toyota springs available. For the
majority of our customers, our standard spring
series offer both longevity plus an excellent ride on and off road.
Our heavy duty front springs have been engineered to carry the additional
weight loads of heavy winch bumpers and V8 engine conversions with
a minor increase in firmness.
2) REAR SPRINGS: Are
they complete?
NWOR manufactures 24 different heavy duty complete
replacement spring sets that feature the latest in spring technology as
shown. Beware! Some Toyota suppliers furnish only the upper
three leaves in their rear springs, requiring
the customer to install his used bottom leaves to complete the
spring.
3) COIL SPRINGS: Why
progressive rate?
Progressive or variable rate coil springs are more expensive to manufacture.
Progressive rate coils provide an excellent ride
whether loaded or unloaded, plus the much needed increased load
capacity. Constant rate coils produce a harsh ride without a load and
provide an acceptable ride when heavily loaded.
4)
ADD-A-LEAFS: What
do they do?
Add-A-Leafs are an inexpensive way to lift 1-1/2 to 2".
The Add-A-Leaf's increased spring rate causes a much stiffer ride than
a complete engineered new lifted rear spring assembly.
5)
MAXIMUM ARTICULATION LEAF SPRINGS: What
do they do? They are a non-load carrying spring. How well each axle or wheel will travel during extreme off road conditions
depends on spring flex or articulation. Aftermarket manufactured maximum
articulating springs are designed primarily for off road use, work
great, but the negative effect is that your truck sacrifices
on highway handling. All NWOR springs are engineered
within SFI specifications to offer the correct
balance of off-road articulation and safe on-road handling and stability.
6)
IFS AXLE CONVERSIONS? Buyer
Beware!
The Internet has lots of small 4x4 repair shops presenting themselves
as bonafide manufacturers of frame components, steering arms and components,
etc. NWOR and most all major suspension companies sell
and manufacture products that conform to ISO 9002 specifications. This
insures proper design, engineering, testing and
strict quality control, with adequate product liability insurance to
protect you, the customer. Your safety is a primary issue, and
the primary reason the above mentioned products are not available from
reputable sources! We hear many experiences from customers
with broken frames caused by welding problems rendering the truck useless
to drive or sell. |
